World’s largest SIM manufacturer starts investigations

Gemalto, considered as the world’s largest supplier of SIM cards, has started its official investigations over claims that the US and British spies have reportedly hacked into its systems for stealing the
encryption keys.

The Franco-Dutch company, which touts itself a global leader in terms of digital security is also known for manufacturing smart chips for bank cards as well as biometric passports.

It is now reportedly  responding to the recent claims made by NSA-whistleblower Edward Snowden, over how NSA and GCHQ were able to access the keys and were decrypted voice and data communications illegally.
