 Cazul a avut loc în jurul orei 02:30. Polițiștii au rămas șocați de tabloul pe care l-au descoperit în fața ochilor, când au ajuns la locul crimei. Aceștia au depistat cadavrul unui bărbat de 55 de ani, cu multiple leziuni corporale în regiunea capului, genunchilor şi feselor. În urma examinării cadavrului, a fost stabilită o plagă tăiată în regiunea testiculelor, iar în cap - alte 2 plăgi. S-a stabilit că, în seara zilei de 12 iulie, suspectul, de 40 de ani, locuitor al satului Hârbovăţ, același raion, a aflat despre infidelitatea soţiei sale, de 35 de ani. Orbit de furie, s-a urcat la volanul mașinii şi s-a deplasat la domiciliul amantului. În urma dicuţiei cu acesta, între ei s-a iscat o ceartă, care a trecut în bătaie. Bănuitul, i-a aplicat victimei multiple lovituri cu mâinile şi cu un borcan din sticlă pe diferite părţi ale corpului, inclusiv în regiunea capului. Când bărbatul nu mai putea opune rezistenţă, bănuitul, cu un cuţit, l-a tăiat în regiunea testiculelor. În rezultatul maltratării, acesta a decedat pe loc. La ora 05:00 dimineaţa, suspectul s-a prezentat la Comisariatul de poliţie din Anenii Noi, declarând că, din motive de gelozie, l-a omorât pe amantul soţiei.
