Bilbo Baggins has travelled far from the Shire.
The polite but resourceful hobbit has wrestled orcs, escaped a terrifying dragon and now faces an army of evil killing goblins with only a few dwarves, Gandalf and some elves for company.
The trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies has the brooding atmosphere and the weight of a definitive clash of good and evil.
The five armies include warriors from the afore-mentioned elves, men and dwarves clashing a CGI host of goblins and Wargs, with various orcs and other sinister creatures thrown in.
The action hinges on whether the dwarves can reclaim Erebor and includes an intriguing scene of Cate Blanchett tenderly kissing the forehead of a lifeless Gandalf.
But this teaser trailer - the official trailer won't be released until October - doesn't give much of the plot away, focusing on mood, action and a sense of danger.
Director Peter Jackson is clearly trying to compete with the mighty set-pieces and battle scenes of his Lord Of The Rings trilogy with a final Hobbit film that promises epic fight scenes and huge CGI armies.
But who will win? Fans of The Lord Of The Rings books and films know that Bilbo returns home and lives long enough to celebrate his eleventy-first birthday. We also know that Sauron's power will only grow until Frodo's fateful trip to Mount Doom.

The film adaptation of JRR Tolkein's book The Hobbit was turned by director Peter Jackson into three movies. This film follows The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug.
Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Orlando Bloom, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly and Christopher Lee star in the film, a who's who of British and Antipodean acting talent.
The Battle Of Five Armies is due out on December 12.
